So moving the discrimination up to 74, and turning off Iron Audio will create a 2 tone mid and high detector for instance. It has up to three tone audio only in the Coin modes and has one moveable tone break for the iron tone which can be adjusted all the way up to 99 or down to 0 for 1, 2 or 3 tone operation. For me anyway, the limited audio features are what hold this detector back. The coin/jewelry/relic modes are where the limited features of the ORX may show up the most if you have Deus/Deus 2 experience and/or will be hunting in heavily aluminum trashed sites or get annoyed with its lack or iron tone volume control. Due to its one tone, wide open discrimination operation, it will hit absolutely anything that is detectable in its Gold modes including, reactive ground, hot and cold rocks, tiny bits of tin and screen wire. It is ridiculously lightweight, easy to swing, I can remove the lower shaft with coil and detect sidewalls, above my head, you name it. It has iron audio too in the gold modes but it does not have a iron volume adjustment. It also has reactivity adjustments and a rudimentary form of iron discrimination for shallower iron targets or for really big deeper iron. Its gold modes are one tone VCO with threshold. It will also hit deeper larger gold too if it can ground balance well enough for the iron mineralization at the site. It will hit shallower, very small nuggets, specimens and wiry gold very well. Any responses you get about any detector are very subjective and site specific.įor small gold nugget prospecting, the ORX is a dream machine.
